We are an independent community service organisation working across Victoria to help those who need it most. Our unique range of services include Communities for Children, Family Health & Wellbeing, Childhood Development, Education & Support, Early Intervention Therapy Services, NDIS Support Coordination and Plan Management, Homelessness Support, Counselling Services, assistance to support victims of trauma, assault and violent crimes and Recovery Support Services.

Windermere’s Recovery Support Service program is providing intake services and targeted, trauma informed support to assist members of the community who have been impacted by the recent bushfire events that commenced in January across Victoria.
 

Job Description

About the role

Our Enhanced Intake Recovery Workers are the first point of contact for residents impacted by the bushfires. You will undertake intake and assessment, and also provide interim recovery support for some residents. Your empathy, assessment and risk management skills, and trauma informed practice, are critical skills. 

We have Part Time (minimum .8) and Full Time roles available until 19 June 2026.  We are committed to work life balance and flexible arrangements, and you can work the majority of the week from home with up to 2 days per week at our Pakenham office, and outreach as required.

Desired Skills and Experience

Key Selection Criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Social Welfare or relevant equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience within the community sector
  • Demonstrated customer service experience and capacity to respond to diverse enquires from distressed consumers
  • Understanding of providing a trauma informed response
  • Intake and assessment experience
  • Is approachable, reliable and trustworthy; maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality where required.
  • Ability to build strong professional relationships
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Willingness to promote and support practices that are inclusive, culturally responsive, safe and accessible
  • Current Victorian Drivers’ Licence
  • Willingness to undertake relevant pre-employment screening and checks - including, Police Check, Pre-Employment Medical and Working with Children's check
  • Right to Work in Australia e.g. Australian Citizen, Permanent Resident or Visa holder with full working rights
